"This opportunity is the fulfillment of a long-time goal for Tom, and it is a huge honor to be chosen by the faculty and staff at Candler," said Steve Cover, chairman of the staff parish relations ministry team.
The change brings "both sadness and excitement," Cover added in a statement on the church's website. "Sadness that after six years we will be losing Tom; excitement in our celebration of this well-deserved move for Tom."
