Man Dies After Exchanging Fire With Police In Snellville
The shooting incident took place Friday morning on Temple Johnson Road near Pate Road.

SNELLVILLE, GA — An armed man barricaded in his car was shot to death Friday morning after a gunfight with police, according to the Gwinnett County Police Department.
Gwinnett officers arrived at about 4 a.m. to help Snellville police, who already had exchanged fire with the suspect in his car on Temple Johnson Road near Pate Road.
After police and a SWAT team surrounded the car, the suspect “pointed his firearm outside his windshield at the officers,” according to the police report. One of the SWAT officers fired a round into the car. The suspect was then observed to move into his car’s back seat.

When police got closer, they could see “the suspect suffering from visible injuries” and called an ambulance. The Gwinnett County Fire Department said the suspect was deceased.
It’s not clear which officer’s shot caused the suspect’s fatal injuries. Per protocol, the incident is being investigated by the GBI.

The suspect’s name is unknown. No officers were injured.
