Shiloh Senior Named Gates Millenium Scholar

Desiree Aighobahi was one of 12 Gwinnett County students to receive the full college scholarship.

Shiloh High School senior Desiree Aighobahi was named one of 12 selected as Gates Millenium Scholars from Gwinnett County Public Schools. She and the other winners will receive a full scholarship to the college of their choice for each academic year.

Aighobahi plans to attend Cornell University

The group of 12 is the largest ever selected from Gwinnett County. They were chosen for their high academic performance, community involvement, extracurricular activities and family financial need.

The program is funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and administered by the United Negro College Fund. 

Representatives from the Gates Millennium Scholarship Program will honor the students, their families and counselors on Friday, May 10th in Suwanee.
