Slain Officer's Funeral, Visitation Arrangements Made

Visitation and funeral arrangements have been made for Slain Officer Antwan Toney.

SNELLVILLE, GA — Visitation and funeral arrangement have been made for Antwan Toney, 30, who waas gunned down in the line of duty Saturday. The Gwinnett County Police Department's slain officer will have a visitation in Peachtree Corners Tuesday, Oct. 23. The funeral will be held in Lawrenceville Wednesday, Oct. 24.

Toney was responding with other officers to a suspicious car call Saturday afternoon at Crumps Landing and White Road near Shiloh Middle School in Snelville, police said. When officers parked their cars, got out and approached the suspicious vehicle, shots were fired from inside, police spokesman Jake Smith told reporters, according to a livestream of the briefing posted by WSB-TV.

Toney was struck and other officers returned fire and pulled him to cover. Toney was taken to Gwinnett Medical Center in Lawrenceville where he died from his injuries. The young officer had been with the department for nearly three years and would have celebrated his three year anniversary in just a few days. The young officer had no immediate family in Georgia.

Prior to working for the Gwinnett County police, he worked as a security guard. Toney's immediate family lives in California, police said.

The visitation and funeral services for Officer Antwan Toney are as follows:

Visitation: Crowell Brothers Funeral Home, 5051 Peachtree Industrial Boulevard, Peachtree Corners. Tuesday, October 23, 2018
2 – 4 p.m. and 6 – 8 p.m.

Funeral: 12 Stone Church, 1322 Buford Drive, Lawrenceville
Wednesday, October 24, 2018
11 a.m.
