Snellville Police Investigating Robbery On North Road
A 26-year-old woman claims she was robbed June 20 in the 2100 block of North Road. Police believe it didn't happen.
SNELLVILLE, GA -- The Snellville Police Department (SPD) is investigating an alleged robbery that occurred June 20 in the 2100 block of North Road. Nhi Tuong Vuong, 26, of Lilburn, claims she was robbed while returning home after work at a restaurant in Monroe, SPD said.
"She stated that she was blocked in by a black passenger vehicle on North Road, and was robbed of several hundred dollars that belonged to the restaurant as well as some personal property," SPD said. "Vuong indicated that the suspect was in a ski mask and fled the scene in the black passenger vehicle. Members of the police department take all reported offenses seriously. However, with the recent string of armed robberies targeting Asian restaurant employees around the Metro Atlanta area the detective division put all resources into investigating this crime."
Detectives were able to uncover several inconsistencies with Vuong’s story, SPD said. Police claim Vuong fabricated her robbery story, SPD said. Warrants were obtained for Vuong’s arrest for false report of a crime and making false statements. She has since been booked into the Gwinnett County jail, SPD added.
