FLAG’s Administrative Support of Foreign Languages Award recognizes a dean, superintendent, principal, or other administrator who has evidenced strong and overt support for foreign languages. Dr. Sadler has offered Spanish at the Peachtree Ridge Cluster school for several years. In addition to students learning the language during the school day, students also participate in several activities and programs such as the Spanish Spelling Bee and musical performances in Spanish.
The Spanish language program at Parsons Elementary is taught by teacher Joe Frank Uriz who was Georgia’s K-12 Foreign Language Teacher of the Year in 2010. Mr. Uriz teaches Spanish to 804 students in grades K-5.

In Gwinnett, the decision to offer foreign language at the elementary school level is based on student and community interest at each individual school. This school year, Parsons Elementary is one of six elementary schools offering the language.
Dr. Charlotte Sadler was named principal of Parsons Elementary in 2008 after serving several years as an assistant principal at Winn Holt Elementary, Cooper Elementary, and Grayson Elementary. She joined the school district in 2001 as a teacher at Kanoheda Elementary. She began her career in education in 1988 as a teacher in DeKalb County. Dr. Sadler holds a bachelor’s degree from Berry College, a master’s degree from Brenau University, and her doctoral degree from UGA.
