Gwinnett Firefighters Douse Big House Fire In Suwanee
Firefighters are working to douse a fire in Suwanee, but have to do so from outside because of the "magnitude" of the blaze.
SUWANEE, GA — Gwinnett firefighters were on the scene at a blaze in the 4900 block of Brendlynn Drive NE in Suwanee, according to a release from the Gwinnett Fire Department. Capt. Tommy Rutledge said in the release that the department arrived at 10 a.m. and had the fire out three hours later.
The fire department dispatched at 9:53 a.m. to the scene, which they described as a "large house fire," and the house was heavily involved in flames. A passerby had called in the fire.
Firefighters were battling the blaze only from the outside of the home, the release said, "due to the magnitude of the fire." The owner came to the scene and told authorities the house was up for sale.

Rutledge said firefighters are rotating shifts to keep cool, and that extra units were called. Two were evaluated for minor heat injuries during the hottest part of the day, but didn't need to be hospitalized and are doing well.
Preliminary investigations suggest the fire may have been caused by a problem with the electrical breaker box, but investigators have not confirmed anything as of yet.
