Nephew Arrested In Monday's Suspicious Suwanee Death

A nephew killed his aunt and tried to commit suicide in Florida before being brought back to Gwinnett and confessing, police say.

SUWANEE, GA — A suspicious death case has turned into a murder and arrest, police say, after they received a confession from the woman's nephew.

Dorothy Ann D'Anna, 63, was found dead Monday at her home on Collins Port Drive in Suwanee, under what police called suspicious circumstances. The victim’s nephew, David Neel Clark, 52, was charged Wednesday with her murder.

Detectives say Clark used the victim’s credit card after her death. Clark could not be found locally, but transactions had been made in Alabama and Florida. Information on Clark was sent to law enforcement agencies in those states. Detectives obtained a warrant for Clark’s arrest for financial transaction card fraud. Gwinnett County Police Department detectives were contacted by the Walton County Sheriff’s Office Wednesday. They had arrested Clark after he attempted to commit suicide on a beach in their jurisdiction.
