Suwanee Man Arrested In Disabled, Elderly Exploitation Case

SUWANEE, GA – A Suwanee man was arrested Dec. 22 for his involvement in exploiting disabled/elderly persons. Harold Louis Hunt, 56, was taken into custody at his residence on Streamwood Ivy Trail in Suwanee after being charged by the Dougherty County Grand Jury in a 17-count indictment. Hunt was indicted for violation of the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act; neglect to a disabled adult, elder person, or resident; exploitation and intimidation of disabled adult, elder person, or resident; and, operating an unlicensed personal care home.

Hunt’s arrest followed an investigation into the exploitation of disabled and elderly adults by Michelle Oliver. Oliver, 39, was arrested in September of this year and 14 persons were rescued from her unlicensed personal care homes in Dougherty, Monroe and Bibb counties. Both Oliver and Hunt have been charged with depriving the residents of healthcare, shelter, and necessary sustenance. The two were also financially exploiting the individuals by Hunt acting as the payee for Social Security benefits and then directing the funds to Oliver’s account.
