Local Arts Students Contribute Talent to Annual Food Drive

Smoke Rise Academy of the Arts partners with Smoke Rise Baptist Church to help DeKalb families in need

Students from Smoke Rise Academy of the Arts gathered to provide live entertainment outside the Kroger on Rockbridge Road in Stone Mountain on November 4, supporting Smoke Rise Baptist Church’s annual Food Basket Drive. The group performed music and drama for customers doing their Saturday morning shopping, and collected over 400 food items and $250 in gift cards. Students then met with church parishioners the following weekend to help sort the food and assemble the baskets. Because of the contributions of the Academy students, the Church was able to put together 150 food baskets this year, which will be distributed to families through the Lilburn Coop and NETWorks Coop.
