A memorial service for Gene Wise will be held on Saturday, April 13 at 2 p.m. at the Tucker First United Methodist Church. He was a member of their Wesley Fellowship Sunday School class for over 40 years.
Wise died on April 1 at the age of 87. He was a contributor to the Smoke Signal, the community newspaper for the Smoke Rise area.
After serving in World War II, Wise studied Industrial Engineering at Georgia Tech and graduated in 1949. He was employed as a general contractor before becoming a commercial real estate broker. Wise was also involved with the DeKalb Republican Party.

Patch reader Pam Heisler commented on the Smoke Rise Facebook page: "Gene was always so involved and such a caring person - he served as pretty much the "conscience" of Smoke Rise. He had an opinion about everything and even if you didn't agree, you had to admire him for his tenacity and willingness to live his convictions."
