Metro Atlanta Congressman Part of New House Speaker's "Jedi Council"

Rep. Tom Price is known for having the ear of Paul Ryan, the new speaker of the U.S. House.

One of new U.S. House Speaker Paul Ryan’s closest advisors is none other than Tom Price, whose District 6 represents portions of Brookhaven, Dunwoody, Sandy Springs, Alpharetta, Johns Creek, Tucker and Roswell.

Price, according to the Georgia political blog Peach Pundit, is known for having Ryan’s ear on policy issues.

Price, along with U.S. Rep. Jim Jordan of Ohio and Louisiana Congressman Steve Scalise, became part of Ryan’s inner circle back in 2008, when the GOP was a minority in the U.S. House, according to the National Review. Recently, the group has been meeting more frequently and have become known as the so-called “Jedi Council.”

Price and Hensarling hope to advise Ryan on issues such as tax reform and housing policy.

Price was in line to run for House Majority Leader when then-Speaker John Boehner stepped down in September. Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy announced his intention to run for Speaker, but then dropped out of the race.
