Qualifying Begins in Tucker's First Election

Tucker will elect its first mayor and city council in history next March.

Qualifying began Monday for Tucker’s first-ever election as a city.

The election itself will be held March 1, 2016.

Tucker will have a mayor and six city council members. According to DeKalb County, three city council districts will consist of two posts. The qualifying fee for mayor is $600 and for $420 for the city council.

The mayor will earn $20,000 while each council member will earn $14,000 annually.

Anyone interested in running for office has between the hours of 9 am and 4:30 pm through Friday to file their candidacy at the DeKalb County Voter Registration & Elections office, 4380 Memorial Drive, Suite 300.
