Shallowford Pres. Names Children's Ministries Director
Promises Activities, Pastoral Care, Events, Outings for Children, Families
Shallowford Presbyterian Church (SPC) recently named Margaret Evans as the Director of Children’s Ministries. Ms. Evans joins Senior Pastor Rev. Christopher A. Henry and a program staff of five at this growing church with nearly 1,000 members located in central DeKalb County.
Ms. Evans has responsibility for the comprehensive ministry to children from ages newborn through 5th Grade and their families, which includes Sunday morning and Wednesday evening ministry activities, pastoral care to children and their families, special events and outings. She provides leadership in worship and serves as a liaison to the Board of Shallowford Presbyterian School.
“We are blessed to have Margaret Evans bring her gifts and experience to Shallowford where she will care for our children and their families and give them a place to belong and grow in faith,” said Rev. Henry. “Her spirit of contagious joy and her abundant grace and enthusiasm make it so clear God has blessed us with just the right person.”

Ms. Evans came to Shallowford Presby. Church from First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta where she served as the Director of Children’s Ministries for the past seven years. Prior to that, she worked in development for the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and the High Museum of Art.
“I feel so blessed that God has called me to such a welcoming and loving community, full of a special energy that runs through the hallways and out into the world,” said Ms. Evans. “We’re going to have a lot of fun together, showing the children how much God loves them!”

An Atlanta native and lifelong Presbyterian, Ms. Evans attended Presbyterian College where she earned a B. A. degree in Theater Arts with an emphasis in Technical Theater. Her interests include cooking, connecting with new people, working in her children's schools, and community service. She and her husband Matt are the parents of two boys and live in the Northlake area of Atlanta.
