Smoke Rise Academy of the Arts to Stage DISNEY’S FROZEN JR.

Fall classes in visual and performing arts begin August 12

The Smoke Rise Academy of the Arts (SRAA) drama department will present this fall the hit musical DISNEY’S FROZEN JR. The family-friendly event will have two weekend runs. The SRAA teen drama class will present its production Friday, August 23 through Sunday, 25 August, 2019, followed by the elementary cast production Friday, September 13 through Sunday, September 15, 2019. Both productions will be presented in the Fellowship Hall of Smoke Rise Baptist Church. Members of the Smoke Rise and surrounding community are invited to attend this free performance.

DISNEY’S FROZEN JR. is based on the hit 2013 animated film and the 2018 Broadway musical, and brings Elsa, Anna, and the magical land of Arendelle to life onstage. The show features all of the memorable songs from the animated film, with music and lyrics by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, plus five new songs written for the Broadway production.

A story of true love and acceptance between sisters, FROZEN JR. expands upon the emotional relationship and journey between Princesses Anna and Elsa. When faced with danger, the two discover their hidden potential and the powerful bond of sisterhood. With a cast of beloved characters and loaded with magic, adventure, and plenty of humor, FROZEN JR. is sure to thaw even the coldest heart!

DISNEY’S FROZEN JR. is a fun family show suitable for all ages. Show times for both weekends are 7:00 p.m. on Friday, 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, and 2:00 p.m. on Sunday. Attendance is free with no tickets required; each show will have concessions available for purchase during intermissions.

Fall classes for Smoke Rise Academy of Arts begin August 12, offering lessons in dance (ages 2 to adult), Musikgarten (ages 1 – 4), children’s art and adult oil painting. In addition to group classes, individual music lessons are offered for all ages for piano, violin, flute, guitar, drums and voice.

Fall drama classes for elementary and high-school students begin October 7, 2019.
