Tucker High School Lady Tigers Tennis Advance To GHSA Elite 8

Tucker High School Lady Tigers Tennis Team advances to the quarterfinal round of the state championship tennis tournament.

The 2018 Tucker High School Tennis Lady Tigers are indeed elite. Yesterday they advanced to the Georgia High School Association (GHSA) Elite 8 round of the State Championship Tennis tournament for the first time in the one hundred and two year old history of Tucker High School.
Region 4-6A Champions Tucker won three lines to zero yesterday over Richmond Hill High school to advance in the tournament. Tucker High School Tennis Senior Autumn Clemons won in straight sets 6-2, 6-1 over Hannah Yontz in an exhilarating match filled with many long rallies. Tucker’s Sophomore Summer Clemons played a very strong match against Stephanie Harter winning in straight sets 6-0, 6-1, and Tucker clinched the sweet sixteen round win three lines to zero with the doubles team of Freshman Trinyty Turner and Junior Jade Wurapa 6-3, 6-0 over Bailey Lapota and Caren Bausch.
The other two lines did not finish, but were highly competitive. Tucker’s Senior Captain Daelyn Turner won her first set 6-2 over Megan Bausch, but Bausch fought back and was ahead in the second set when the match was stopped. Seniors Kelsey Hayes and Sarah Penkava of Tucker were also in a fight of a match needing a set tie break to decide the first set at 6-7 versus Grace Cantele and Bridgett Cox, but the Tucker doubles duo were ahead early in the second set when their match was stopped.
Tucker High School Tennis Lady Tigers will next face John’s Creek High School in the quarterfinal round in hopes to advance to the final four to extend this history making fourth consecutive year state tournament appearance season even more special.
