Tucker Shooting Suspect Arrested

The shooting early Friday morning happened outside the Wooden Nickel Pub.

TUCKER, GA -- A suspect has been arrested for the early-morning shooting of a Tucker man outside a local pub.

The DeKalb County Sheriff's office says Daryell Allen Jackson, 20, was arrested Friday by the office's fugitive unit.

A warrant had been issued for Jackson's arrest on charges he shot Melvin James Dodson several times outside the Wooden Nickel Pub, on Tucker Norcross Road.

Dodson remained hospitalized Friday for what authorities described as "grave" wounds.

In a news release, the sheriff's office said that Jackson was apprehended Friday afternoon on Pleasantdale Road in Atlanta by sheriff's deputies and transported to DeKalb County Jail.

Officers responded to a call of a shooting outside the bar at about 3 a.m. Friday.

Police told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that Dodson had been asked to leave the Wooden Nickel, but returned anyway. He had gotten into an altercation with another man in the bar prior to the shooting, they said.
