Tucker State Senator Spends Night in Jail

Curt Thompson was jailed on Monday night in Douglas County on contempt of court.

State Sen. Curt Thompson, whose District 5 includes portions of Tucker and DeKalb County, spent Monday night in a Douglas County jail.

The AJC is reporting that Thompson, a Democrat, was jailed after a judge found him in contempt of court.

According to Channel 2 Action News, Thompson failed to explain to State Court Judge James Barker why he failed to show up to court on a civil matter.

Thompson’s said he had another case in DeKalb County that conflicted with the Douglas County date. But a Channel 2 investigation said Thompson allegedly lied about the conflict.

Barker sentenced Thompson to 10 days in jail. He will be allowed to post bond after his first 24 hours in jail.
