Decatur Man Faces Drug Charges After Dunwoody Traffic Stop

The suspect reportedly ran from police, but was found with cocaine and more than $2,000 cash.

A Decatur man who allegedly ran from police during a Dunwoody traffic stop has been charged with intent to distribute cocaine and obstruction, police say.

The suspect was a passenger in an SUV reportedly stopped Jan. 5 on Chamblee-Dunwoody Road. Police say the vehicle had a brake light out.

Danniel Jerome Turner, 37, of Stone Mountain, was a passenger in the vehicle’s back seat, and reportedly ran from authorities, according to the Reporter Newspapers. Police reportedly found multiple small jewelry bags, cocaine and $2,111 when they caught up with Turner.

The driver, Jerry Leon Brooks, 64, of Decatur, was released with a verbal warning, police said.
