Grady Boys Tennis Advances to the 5A State Tennis Championship

Grady High School boys tennis played Coffee County HS Monday in the 5A state tennis semi-finals. Grady won 3-2 to advance to the state championship finals for the second straight time. Coffee County started strong winning at line one singles and line two singles. Grady bounced back when Elliot Willner and Colin Stanley won line two doubles 6-2, 6-4. Scott Whitley and Simeon Smith won 6-2,6-3 at line one doubles to tie the match at 2-2. The final match was line 3 singles and Cooper Cavalier lost the first set 0-6. He battled back to win the second set 7-6 (7-5) in a tiebreaker! Cooper then won 6-2 in the final set sending Grady back to the state finals!

Grady has won four straight Region 6-AAAAA championships and have now advanced to the state finals in 2019 and 2021. There were no playoffs in 2020. The finals are in Rome, GA on Saturday May 8th.
