Homeowner Shoots Burglary Suspect in Shoulder

A DeKalb County resident who was asleep heard his front door being kicked in, grabbed a weapon and shot the intruder, police say.

A burglary suspect who reportedly kicked in a front door Monday was shot by the DeKalb County homeowner, who was awakened by noise, police say.

The resident says he was asleep when someone kicked in the front door of his house on Kings Glenn Drive, WSB TV reports. The homeowner told police when he realized someone was inside the home he picked up a gun and went to investigate.

The homeowner fired one shot, striking the burglary suspect in the shoulder, the station says.

The injured suspect was arrested at a Texaco gas station on Pantherville Road. He was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital in stable condition, WSB says.
