Target Shoots Robbery Suspect at Sonic Drive-Through: Police

DeKalb County Police say armed men attempted to rob a restaurant customer, who fatally shot one man. Another suspect is charged with murder.

A teenager, whose alleged accomplice in a botched robbery at the Sonic restaurant was shot and killed by the intended victim, faces a murder charge.

DeKalb County police said the 23-year-old intended robbery victim was ordering in the drive-through lane at the Sonic, 3900 Flat Shoals Parkway in Decatur. WSB TV reports a group of armed men approached the victim’s car Sunday night and demanded money.

The victim was also carrying a gun and shot one of the suspects.

Authorities said the suspect, Kenneth Brayboy, 19, died hours after the shooting.

Desmond McKnight, 17, was charged with murder, criminal attempt armed robbery and tampering with evidence, WSB says.

No charges will be filed against the attempted robbery victim, police say.
