Weekender: Zombie Pub Crawl in VaHi

Here are five ideas for weekend fun in and around Virginia Highland and Druid Hills.


Zombie Pub Crawl. At 4 p.m. Saturday, complimentary zombie makeovers will be provided in the parking lot of Diesel Filling Station at 870 N. Highland Ave. in Virginia Highland. The zombies will hit the local bars before coming back for an 8 p.m. afterparty at Diesel. 

Tunes of 007. The Ted Howe Trio with Karla Harris will perform the music of James Bond movies at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Callanwolde Fine Arts Center. $15 in advance, $20 at the door.

Live music at clubs. At the Family Dog, Disco Hell with DJ Quasi Mandisco on Friday, Old You on Saturday and Jez Graham Trio with Joe Gransden on Sunday. At Blind Willie's, Houserocker Johnson on Friday and Sandra Hall on Saturday. At Limerick Junction, Sean Thomason Friday and Saturday and Dan Sheffield on Sunday.

Atlanta Downtown Restaurant Week. From Saturday through Aug. 4, more than 35 restaurants will offer $15, $25 or $35 prix-fixe brunch, lunch and dinner menus.

Pops Concert with the DeKalb Symphony Orchestra and Mac Frampton.  Pianist Frampton and his trio perform an evening of pops, including Gershwin's I Got Rhythm, at 8 p.m. Friday at Marvin Cole Auditorium at Georgia Perimeter College at 555 N. Indian Creek Drive, Clarkston. Tickets are $30 for adults, $28 for seniors over 60 and $15 for students.
