Cobb Police On Trail of Suspected Panhandlers

Police still want residents to call 911 if they see the panhandlers in their area.

Cobb County police are asking the public to keep an eye out for a pair of men they say are trying to trick people into giving them money.

According to the department’s Facebook page, residents in north and west Cobb have filed numerous reports involving a man driving a tan 2000 Ford Explorer with Georgia plates who is allegedly panhandling in the area. According to the reports, the man gets out of his truck, stands beside it while on crutches, and flags down passing motorists. When someone stops to help, the man asks them for money, police say. None of the people who filed reports said they were injured or threatened.

Normally only one person is involved, but police say that on Wednesday a second man was seen participating in the panhandling operation. The first suspect is described as a white male with salt and pepper hair who is in his fifties. The second suspect is a black man in his late thirties or early forties.
