Powder Springs Rapist Gets Life in Prison
James Foster Beaver was sentenced Thursday morning.

MARIETTA, GA -- A Cobb County judge has sentenced a convicted rapist to life in prison.
A jury convicted James Foster Beaver, 46, last week, of raping a Powder Springs woman in March 2015.
The victim, who takes medication for seizures, passed out, and when she awoke the next morning her clothes were askew and she was sore. An exam revealed she had been sexually assaulted.

Beaver testified during trial that he and the woman were doing drugs together, but he denied raping her.
Beaver has seven prior felony convictions in various counties for crimes including drugs, theft, and aggravated battery.

Judge Ann Harris sentenced Beaver to the mandatory life in prison without parole, plus 20 years to serve.
