Powder Springs Woman, Grandson Forced to Wait in Locked Bedroom
Leta Byrd Scott of Powder Springs allegedly "grabbed a knife from the kitchen and ran around the home screaming that she was going to kill said victim several times."

A Powder Springs woman and her 8-year-old grandson had to take shelter Wednesday in a bedroom when another woman allegedly threatened to kill her.
Between 2:32 and 2:40 a.m. Wednesday, Leta Byrd Scott of Powder Springs allegedly "grabbed a knife from the kitchen and ran around the home screaming that she was going to kill said victim several times until officers arrived on scene" in the 5600 block of Walden Farms Drive, according to a Cobb County arrest warrant.
Scott, Cobb police said, also took the phone that was connected to the wall in the residence, threw it and broke it.
"Accused did this in an attempt to keep said victim from being able to use the phone to call 911 during the incident," according to the warrant.
While the warrant states that Scott is in custody in lieu of $20,000 bond on charges that include aggravated assault, criminal trespass and third-degree cruelty to children, online jail records do not list anyone by that name.
Scott has been in trouble recently. She was arrested in Cobb on May 16 on a charge of simple battery.
