Will your candidate support the Georgia State Alzheimer's Plan

Ask Your Candidates to Support the Plan

Georgia State Alzheimer's Plan

In 2013 the Georgia Assembly passed Senate Bill 14 Georgia Alzheimer's Disease Related Dementia State Plan Task force. This task force was comprised of representatives from State Agency's, local health departments, research institutes, law enforcement, caregivers associations, elder law attorneys and Community organizations as well as caregivers, community members and individuals impacted by Alzheimer's and other dementias. Their task was to research the impact of the Alzheimer's and develop strategies to mobilize the State's response to meet this growing health crisis. This task force gathered public input,as well as other stakeholders including the Alzheimer's Association of Georgia, and published the Georgia Alzheimer's and Related Dementia State Plan in June of 2014.
These strategies and recommendations must be adopted and implemented as best practices and policies in State Agency's to be effective. Many of these will require legislation to be passed by the Georgia Assembly.
This is why we should insist our candidates include this in their campaign policy issues. Further, we must ask them “What will you do to to effectively implement the Georgia State Alzheimer's Plan.
I thank Representative Michael Smith and Senator Jen Jordan for their Support of legislation arising from the task force strategies during the 2018 session.
