Cherokee Announces Summer School Options

The Cherokee County School District's summer school sessions will start on June 3.

The Cherokee County School District will once again offer summer school courses for its students.

The district is offering the sessions for students who want to earn credits over the summer for classes or to recover credit for classes they did not pass during the school year.

They will also offer to eighth-grade students the chance to recover credits in order to advance to ninth grade.

With the exception of Etowah High School, the district will offer Credit Connect, its online credit recovery program at the remaining high schools. Registration, which is ongoing, is offered at each high school and ends on May 22. The cost is $200 per class/half credit.

Rising ninth-grade students will be able to take a half-unit of health and physical education classes to earn high school credit. Those classes will be offered either 8 a.m. to noon or 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. June 3-21 at either Polaris or Cherokee High School. The cost is also $200 per class/half credit.

The district's Middle School Bridge Program will be offered to eighth-grade students who did not pass a required core course to move on to ninth-grade.

With the exception of Cherokee High School, each high school will offer classes for students slated to feed into their schools. The students who are set to feed into Cherokee will instead meet at Teasley Middle School.
