WOODSTOCK, GA — Coronavirus cases continue to drop across the country while the number of those who are fully vaccinated continues to rise, which means there is even more reason to celebrate this Independence Day. July 4 is almost here, so it's time to find out what Fourth of July fireworks and festivities are going on near you.

When: Monday, July 5

From the City of Woodstock: "The City of Woodstock will host its annual July 4th Spectacular on Monday, July 5th this year and celebrations will include a road race, a parade, a festival, and fireworks.

Main Street will close beginning at 7 a.m. for the Freedom Run that starts at 7:15 a.m. There will be a 5K, 1 Mile, and Tot Trot. More info is available at www.woodstockfreedomrun.com. Streets will reopen from 8:45 a.m. until 9:45 a.m.

The parade will begin at 10 a.m. at Woodstock Elementary School and will travel south through Downtown Woodstock to the Sam’s Club parking lot near Main Street and Highway 92. Main Street will reopen at 11:30 a.m.

A festival will take place in The Park at City Center from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be great food vendors as well as arts and crafts vendors. There will also be games and activities for children and a DJ as well.

At dusk, the City of Woodstock will host a fantastic fireworks celebration in the area of Molly Lane and Highway 92 near I-575. “The public should be aware of the traffic plan for those parking in the area around Target, Home Depot, Lowes, His Hands Church, and BJs,” said Woodstock Parks and Rec Director Michael Huffstetler. “That and a lot of other information is available in the Special Events section of our new Parks and Rec website.”

From the City of Canton: "Join us for a star-spangled celebration on Independence Day, Sunday, July 4! The American Legion - Canton Post is hosting a Patriotic Parade in Downtown Canton, starting at 3 p.m. A spectacular Fireworks Show by the City of Canton will be at the Publix Shopping Center block of Riverstone Parkway beginning at dusk (typically 9 p.m., weather-permitting). We hope to see you there in all of your red, white, and blue!"
