Funeral On Sunday For Hurricane Irma Evacuees Killed In Accident
Kaitlin Hunt and her 3-month-old baby Riley died Sept. 9 when they were hit by a car while crossing Arnold Mill Road in downtown Woodstock.
WOODSTOCK, GA -- A funeral service will be held this weekend for a mom and her baby who fled Hurricane Irma only to die after they were hit by a vehicle last weekend in downtown Woodstock. The service for 28-year-old Kaitlin Hunt and her 3-month-old daughter Riley will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 17 at Woodstock Funeral Home at 8855 Main Street. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service.
Hunt and her daughter died days apart following a Sept. 9 collision along Arnold Mill Road near Hubbard Road. Hunt, of Port St. Lucie, Florida, was carrying Riley in her arms around 8:16 p.m. when they and a family friend were struck by a Jeep Patriot driven by 17-year-old Zoe Reardon of Atlanta, who was traveling westbound towards Main Street.
Riley passed away Saturday evening, and Kaitlin Hunt and the friend, Kathy Deming of Marietta, were both transported to WellStar Kennestone Hospital. Kaitlin Hunt died Tuesday and Deming, who remains hospitalized, is "slowly recovering" from her injuries, sheriff's office spokesperson Sgt. Marianne Kelley previously told Patch. Sgt. Kelley said the accident remains under investigation.

Hunt, her baby and Riley's father, Brandon Hunt, all lived in Port St. Lucie. However, Kaitlin Hunt's father made the decision to relocate his daughter and granddaughter to Georgia due to Hurricane Irma threatening Florida. Hunt, her father, Deming, Riley and a few others were enjoying a night out together in downtown Woodstock when the fatal crash took place (SIGN UP: Get Patch's Daily Newsletter and Real Time News Alerts.
