Gold Swimmer Allison Brown Targets Tech

Her coach Mike Wardwell says, "Allison's drive both in the pool and the classroom are going to be a huge asset to the Georgia Tech program."

It's a family tradition for Chattahoochee Gold swimmer Allison Brown. She's verbally committed to Georgia Tech to continue her athletic & academic careers - her dad is a Tech grad.

Allison says, "I choose the Georgia Tech Swim and Dive program because of the supportive coaching staff, the amazing swim facilities, and the school’s strong academic environment. Additionally, my decision was influenced by the beautiful Tech campus and the surrounding city of Atlanta. My dad is a Georgia Tech alumnus, so I have been a Tech fan my whole life."

She thinks Tech wanted her for a variety of reasons. "I believe Georgia Tech offered me because of my ability to balance rigorous academics, athletics, and extra-curriculars, along with my ability to be a strong contributor to the team in the mid to long distance freestyle events."

Allison has trained & competed for Gold for the past ten years.

"My best memories in swimming for Gold are representing the team at state and sectional level meets as well as swimming on team relays at state and sectionals. My proudest accomplishments in swimming for Gold are gaining sectional and National cuts as well as taking part in relays that hold current team records. The coaching staff at Gold has always created an environment that allows for growth and success. Coach Mike (Wardwell) has always been supportive and helped me push myself to become the best swimmer I can."

Allison anticipates that her main events in competing for Georgia Tech will be 200, 500 & 1650 freestyle. "At Tech, I hope to be a part of the travel and ACC Championship teams. I also hope to grow as a swimmer and learn valuable life lessons that I can carry into other aspects of my life."

In the classroom, she'll pursue a degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Operations & Supply Chain Management with a double minor in Law, Science and Technology (Pre-Law), and Spanish.

Allison told SwimSwam, "I am so grateful to the Georgia Tech coaching staff for this opportunity. I can’t wait to be a part of this amazing team! Go Jackets!!”
