Chattahoochee Gold swimmer Emma Gelatt is committing to North Carolina's Gardner-Webb University in fall of 2020 to continue her swimming & scholastic careers. Emma says, "I’ve known a few teammates who have attended Gardner-Webb and who have been a part of the swim team. The school had everything I was looking for in a college; a smaller school, co-ed swim team, and located in North Carolina. They believe that I will be a good addition to the team for not only my swimming ability, but also my work ethic and personality." Emma's goals in competing with the G-W Bulldogs are to place well in the Coastal Collegiate Swim Association conference meet and to swim at the NCAA D1 Championships.

Emma is a senior at Sequoyah High School where she also swims for the SHS Chiefs. She says her proudest moment as a Chief was "swimming on the 400 Free Relay in the A Final at High School State with (Chattahoochee Gold swimmers) Kristina Friedrichs, Ansley Davis, and Jordan Weems. My best Gold memory would be getting my first Short Course State cut. I remember being so ecstatic after finishing at the wall, seeing my time on the scoreboard, and knowing all my hard work had paid off."

On her tenure with Chattahoochee Gold, Emma reflects, "The best part of swimming for Gold is knowing that I swim for coaches that care about my success and well being as not only a swimmer but a person as well. Swimming has been one of the best things that I’ve ever done, but it’s also been one of the hardest. The relationships that I have built with my teammates and coaches are some of my most treasured relationships. If anyone was ever questioning joining the sport of swimming, I would encourage them to try it out because swimming has taught me so many things that have made me the person I am today."
