Gold Swimmers Score Big at State Championship Meet

Competing among the very fastest swimmers in the state, the 14-and-under athletes with Chattahoochee Gold swam to third place in the extra large team division at the 2019 Short Course Age Group Championships at Georgia Tech.

Nine Gold swimmers scored at least 100 points at the meet:

Leading the way with 264 points was 10-year-old Gavin Halusic, who managed to win every single individual event in which he competed: 500 Freestyle, 200 Individual Medley, 50 Breast, 100 Freestyle, 50 Backstroke, 100 Butterfly, 100 Individual Medley, 50 Freestyle, 100 Breaststroke, 50 Butterfly, and 200 Freestyle.

Twelve-year-old Harper Johnson scored 148 points, finishing in the top ten in all his events and leading off the relay team that scored second place in the Boys 12-and-under 200 Medley Relay.

Patrick Tilt, who is age 12, tallied 129 points. Patrick was in the top ten in eight individual events.

Reese Neal (age 10) was highest scoring among the girls with 124 points. She was second in the 100 Butterfly, third in 50 Backstroke and 50 Butterfly.

With 7 top ten finishes, Delaney Yarbrough (age 12) finished with 113 points.

Twelve-year-old Nathan Sayer had six top-ten finishes and 110 points.

With 108 points, 14-year-old Elizabeth Tilt had a top-ten finish in all of her individual events.

With a second place finish in 100 Breast, a third in 50 & 200 Breast, William Iglar (age 13) scored 101 points.

Laurel Blase (age 14) finished 7th in 1000 Freestyle and had three other top-ten finishes. She contributed 100.5 points.

Chattahoochee Gold is based in Woodstock and trains its swimmers at the Woodstock Aquatic Center, Cherokee County Aquatic Center, Mountain View Aquatic Center in East Cobb, and the Cumming Aquatic Center.
