Lidl To Open Store In Woodstock By End Of 2021

Grocery chain Lidl will open five new stores, including in Woodstock, by the end of 2021, creating more than 200 jobs around the state.

WOODSTOCK, GA — Lidl announced Tuesday its plans to open five new stores in Georgia by the end of 2021, nearly doubling its store network in the Atlanta-area. The newly announced Georgia stores were revealed as part of Lidl’s $500 million new store expansion plan it announced this week, with 50 new stores detailed along the East Coast.

The new stores will be located in:

  • Woodstock, Bells Ferry Road
  • Sandy Springs, Roswell Road
  • Duluth, Peachtree Industrial Blvd.
  • East Cobb, Johnson Ferry Road
  • Marietta, Whitlock Ave SW

The grand opening dates of the individual stores will be announced over the coming months.

Lidl plans to open a $100 million regional headquarters and distribution center in Covington, Georgia over the next two years, which will support the grocer’s future regional expansion.

Lidl will create about 200 new jobs for its new Georgia stores. The company offers a leading wage and benefits package that includes healthcare insurance for all full and part-time employees.

Customers can also expect to experience Lidl’s famed cost-cutting effect in these new communities. A new study from UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School observed that prices on Lidl’s award-winning assortment were up to 45 percent lower than nearby national grocers.

“Access to high-quality food at an affordable price is important to everyone, and these new Lidl locations in our state will also provide new employment opportunities for hardworking Georgians in a growing industry,” Gov. Brian Kemp said.

Lidl operates more than 11,000 stores and is active in 32 countries, employing around 287,000 employees globally.
