Local Academy Congratulates First Graduating 5th Grade Class
Choosing the right school for your child can make all the difference in the world

This past week, Hillside Preschool & Academy graduated their first ever fifth grade class from the Academy. The school is very proud and excited to share that Dominick, Quentin, Corbin, Leland and Haley have successfully completed Hillside’s Academy program. This is such a special time because with their graduation, the academy also celebrates the fulfillment of a dream and a calling that began during the 2014-2015 school year when the decision was made to expand the Academy Program. The plan was to add a first grade classroom to the school for the following year. This was done in close cooperation with the administration at the time, the Preschool & Academy Board, Hillside pastoral leadership and a team of dedicated staff members and parents. Each year since then they have added an additional grade to their program with the goal in mind of completing the Academy at fifth grade.
The Academy portion of Hillside’s program (T5 thru fifth grade) has over 120 students registered for the 2020-2021 school year, and they are currently Accredited through Cognia (formerly AdvancEd). Students receive daily instruction in the areas of reading, math, language arts, science, social studies, Bible, art, music, physical education, character development and much more. Limited space remains for next school year as many of the Academy classrooms are already filled to capacity. This speaks to the growth that has occurred over the past five years in Hillside’s Academy Program.
“It’s a remarkable thing to watch the way these children have grown through the years,” says Academy Director, Amanda Carver. “Several of these children began their journey with us when they were two years old. It is difficult to imagine Hillside Preschool & Academy without them in it.” She further explains how any one of the now graduated fifth graders are able to confidently offer a prayer in public without any notice of being asked to do so. She adds, “Their confidence and faith is a gift.”
