Man Accused of Locking Up Toddler

Kyle Skinner of Woodstock also is charged with hitting his pregnant girlfriend in Cobb County.

A Woodstock man is being held in the on charges that he helped nail a 3-year-old inside a bedroom and that he pushed and hit his pregnant girlfriend.

Kyle Erwin Skinner, 23, was arrested Tuesday morning at his home in the 200 block of Don John Trail, according to booking reports.

He is charged with one felony and two misdemeanor counts of cruelty to a child and two misdemeanor counts of contributing to the deprivation of a minor, as well as misdemeanor charges of battery and assault on an unborn.

The first set of charges relate to what found when they went to the home of Cindy Marie Cantu, Skinner’s 24-year-old girlfriend, south of Marietta last Monday.

Officers had to kick down the locked, nailed bedroom door and found the 3-year-old boy wearing a soiled diaper and suffering from a severe rash while being cut off from food amid filthy conditions, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

The final two charges against Skinner come from Cantu’s claim that he pushed and hit the pregnant woman, forcing her to seek treatment at , the AJC said.

Cantu was arrested Monday night at Kennestone Hospital and charged with felony cruelty to children through negligence and two misdemeanor counts of contributing to the deprivation of a minor.

Skinner’s bond was set at $25,000; Cantu’s bond is $15,000.

Skinner was arrested two previous times in the past month in Cobb County and cited for driving with a suspended license and other charges, the AJC said, citing jail records.
