Man Arrested For Attempting To Meet Teen For Sex: Sheriff

ACWORTH, GA — Investigators with the Cherokee Sheriff's Office Internet Crimes Against Children Unit arrested a 34-year-old man Thursday, who thought he was meeting a girl under the age of 15 for sex.

Mackenzie Merriman, 34, walked from his Acworth home to a location in south Cherokee County to meet the girl, but was taken into custody when detectives arrived at the scene, the department said.

Merriman is charged with two counts of obscene internet contact with a child and one count of computer pornography and child exploitation act.

He remains in custody at the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center without bond.
