Matthew Glazier, 22, Touched The Hearts of Family, Friends

The Etowah High School graduate loved snowboarding, helping other achieve their fitness goals, music and animals.

Matthew Chancellor Glazier, age 22, passed away the morning of April 4, 2016, leaving behind his beloved parents, Susan Chancellor Glazier and Roy William Glazier, as well as a younger brother, Grayson James Chancellor Glazier, all of whom reside in Woodstock, Georgia.

Matthew was born in Atlanta, Georgia on April 22, 1993, and attended Etowah High School where he earned the Key Scholar Award for outstanding achievement on the national PSAT test, ranking in the top tenth percentile of students in the United States. While attending Etowah, he played lacrosse on the varsity team and served as co-captain his senior year.

Matthew furthered his education at Kennesaw State University where, as a junior, he studied Information Systems at The Michael J. Cole College of Business. While attending college, he became interested in physical fitness, especially weight lifting. While employed by L.A. Fitness as a trainer, he was able to pursue his passion of helping others achieve their fitness goals.

Matthew was an avid artist who loved to share his work with family and friends. He also enjoyed the art of writing in calligraphy, using pencil for his medium. A music enthusiast, he loved various genres with rap being his favorite of all. Matthew’s greatest passion was snowboarding in the picturesque mountains of Colorado where he mastered the slopes with ease.

His friends and loved ones cherished Matthew’s wonderful sense of humor, his innate intuitiveness, and his loving kindness. He was a sensitive young man who was quick to forgive others. A great lover of animals, he shared his love and affection with the family’s dogs: Georgie and the now deceased, Goochie.

In addition to his parents and brother, Matthew is survived by maternal grandparents Connie Graves Chancellor and James Jackson Chancellor of Birmingham; paternal grandmother Ottilie Lauterbach Glazier and aunt, Pamela Louise Glazier, of Appleton, Wisconsin; uncle Robert Phillip Glazier and spouse Penny Honetor of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; great uncle Earl Speight Chancellor of Fairhope, Alabama, and several cousins. He is predeceased by his paternal grandfather, Roy Blair Glazier.

Visitation will be at Lakeside Funeral Home located at 121 Claremore Drive, Woodstock, Georgia 30188 from 5 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 8. The funeral service will be at noon Saturday, April 9 in the Celebration Hall of Hillside United Methodist Church which is located at 4474 Towne Lake Parkway, Woodstock, Georgia 30189.

Matthew deeply touched the hearts of his friends and family. We are extremely grateful for the opportunity we have had to know him and to love him. The family would like to express their deep appreciation for the outpouring of love and support given by the community after Matthew’s passing.
