Salvation Army Of Cherokee, Walmart Collecting Toys Saturday

The Salvation Army of Cherokee and Pickens Counties are joining forces to provide toys to 580 children in need during the holidays.

CHEROKEE COUNTY, GA — Walmart and The Salvation Army of Cherokee and Pickens Counties are joining forces to provide toys to 580 local children in need during the holidays with a toy drive event at the Walmart Stores in Jasper, Holly Springs and Bells Ferry on Saturday.

The Salvation Army Canton Service Center is one of many locations nationwide taking place in similar toy drives. To participate, simply stop by and drop off new toys to The Salvation Army at the front of each Walmart store.

“We’ve seen a record number of children and families seeking Christmas assistance this year in Cherokee and Pickens Counties,” said Shannon Coats from The Salvation Army. “The public’s generosity helps The Salvation Army provide children with Christmas gifts they would not receive otherwise.”

Local school counselors, foster agencies, family case workers and The Salvation Army’s Christmas Aid to Inmate’s Family Program and Social Services rely on The Salvation Army in Canton for help for children at Christmas every year.

Walmart and The Salvation Army have collaborated for more than 30 years to meet local community needs. Supporters like Walmart help The Salvation Army serve more than 23 million Americans each year through a range of social services, which help families overcome poverty.

All toys given to The Salvation Army will remain in the local community of Cherokee and Pickens’ Counties and will help The Salvation Army provide Christmas assistance to 580 local children and families in need.
