Superschool Planned for Woodstock

Calling Holdheide Academy's plans big is like calling the sun hot.

Holly Springs-Hickory Flat Patch has posted an article about what private school hopes to become within three years: nothing less than the finest school in the nation, serving children from infancy through 12th grade.

In what could be the ultimate example of , the academy is working on plans for a $60 million facility on 87 acres in Woodstock, where students would benefit from a blended, hands-on, creative curriculum designed to help them find their passion and their path through life before they get to college.

But school Director Tammy Dorsten doesn't plan to hide her students away from the real world on their campus, which will include a robotics lab, avionics labs, greenhouse re-creations of the Mojave Desert and a South American rain forest, and various doctors to avoid the hassle of appointments during the school day.

Instead, the students will do community service locally, nationally and even globally, thanks to a private jet that can and will whisk them off to every continent during their school years.
