Traffic Shift In Place At Ga. 140 Bridge Over Little River

The traffic shift is part of the bridge replacement project at the Cherokee-Fulton county line.

WOODSTOCK, GA — The Georgia Department of Transportation and its construction partners have rolled out a traffic shift as part of the project to replace the S.R. 140/Hickory Flat Highway bridge at the Fulton and Cherokee county border.

The shift began at 9 a.m. Thursday, and involved moving both east and westbound lanes about 6 to 8 feet to the south between the Little River bridge at the county line and Old Arnold Mill Road just past the Fulton County line.

Motorists should note the shift will allow contractors to build the roadway that will approach the new bridge. Delays are expected to occur between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. (For more news like this, find your local Patch here. The traffic shift is a part of the ongoing project designed to construct a replacement bridge for the existing structurally deficient bridge over Little River. Once completed, the bridge will have two 12-foot traffic lanes and a 10-foot shoulder. Weather permitting, the construction is expected to wrap up by Nov. 30.
