CHEROKEE COUNTY, GA — Waste Management invested in the beautification of Cherokee County by donating more than $20,000 to the Keep Cherokee Beautiful program.
“We are thankful for the commitment of Waste Management to Cherokee County and Keep Cherokee Beautiful,” said Cherokee County District 3 Commissioner Benny Carter. “The support, resources and donation from Waste Management will allow Keep Cherokee Beautiful to expand our initiatives beyond the Adopt-a-Mile program and community cleanup events.”
Waste Management Community Relations Specialist Marla Prince presented the largest single donation of $23,907.76 to the Cherokee County Board of Commissioners and Keep Cherokee Beautiful board members at the May 18 board of commissioners meeting.

“This generous donation will enable KCB to begin the important work of making Cherokee County a cleaner, more desirable, and environmentally friendlier place to live,” said Keep Cherokee Beautiful Board President Mark Preetorius. “Keeping our roads clean and free of litter creates an atmosphere conducive to raising a family, starting a business, and retiring in a clean, litter free home setting.”
Currently, Keep Cherokee Beautiful works to reduce littering through programs like Adopt-a-Mile and Community Cleanups. Last month, Keep Cherokee Beautiful volunteers picked up over 3,100 pounds of roadside litter.
