Woodstock Motorcycle Rider Injured In Crash With SUV: Police

A Woodstock man was hospitalized after an SUV struck his motorcycle Wednesday morning on East Cherokee Drive: Cherokee sheriff's office.

WOODSTOCK, GA — A Woodstock man is being treated at a local hospital for injuries he sustained early Wednesday morning when an SUV struck his motorcycle, according to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office. William Lunsford, 48, was taken to WellStar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta with serious injuries.

Deputies responded at about 6 a.m. Wednesday to the collision on East Cherokee Drive at Tomahawk Trail near Woodstock, the sheriff's office said. An SUV was moving west on East Cherokee Drive and attempting to turn into a convenience store when it struck Lunsford's motorcycle, which was eastbound.

The SUV's driver, William Bartula, 66, of Woodstock, was not injured, the sheriff's office said.

The office's Traffic Enforcement Unit is investigating the accident, and no charges have been filed.
