Woodstock Police Accepting Applications For Citizens Academy

Citizens' Public Safety Academy is a series of classes to enhance the citizen's understanding of various aspects within police and fire.

WOODSTOCK, GA — The Woodstock Police & Fire Departments are now accepting applications for the Spring 2020 Citizens’ Public Safety Academy, scheduled to begin on Feb. 27.

Citizens’ Public Safety Academy is a series of educational classes designed to enhance the citizen’s understanding of various aspects within the police and fire profession. The program is intended to strengthen the relationship between the citizens and the Woodstock Police and Fire Departments, as well as spotlight the responsibilities of public safety personnel and the inherent risks associated with the professions.

  • CRASE (Civilian Response to Active Shooter) seminar
  • Criminal Investigation Procedures
  • Crime Prevention
  • Extrication demonstration
  • Thermal imagining camera presentation
  • Fire safety
  • Fire prevention

The class will also tour the Woodstock Fire Department and participate in a judgmental shooting demonstration.

The Citizens’ Public Safety Academy will be held every Thursday evening, from 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m., Feb. 27 – May 14.

Anyone who lives, works, or has an expressed interest in the city may apply for the Citizens’ Public Safety Academy. Applicants are required to be at least 19-years-old and submit to a background investigation prior to acceptance in the program. Once accepted, positions are awarded on a first come, first served basis.

Citizens’ Public Safety Academy applications are available at the Woodstock Police Department, located at 12453 Highway 92, Woodstock, GA 30188 or by visiting www.woodstockga.gov/police/cpsa.

The deadline for accepting applications is Feb. 24.
