Woodstock Police Department Joins NextDoor
Woodstock police will use the social networking platform to share information to residents who live in neighborhoods around the city.

WOODSTOCK, GA — The Woodstock Police Department has started using another tool to help the agency communicate with the public. The agency on Tuesday said it has established a presence on NextDoor, a private social network for residents in particular neighborhoods.
WPD will use NextDoor to build "strong, safer and happier communities with the help of residents who are active on the platform," according to its news release.
"Woodstock is an innovative and resourceful city," said Police Chief Calvin Moss. "NextDoor is another great tool we can use to help us better communicate and reach our residents. We encourage our residents to join us on NextDoor so that we can work together to promote stronger, healthier neighborhoods."

More than 6,000 Woodstock residents are active on the social network, the city said Tuesday. NextDoor allows residents to share information, including events, activities, services, lost pets and public safety issues, with their neighbors. Woodstock police will be able to use the platform to directly share announcements or information with neighborhoods that fall within city boundaries.

NextDoor is free for residents and governmental agencies to use. Each neighborhood has its private page, which is only accessible to residents of that neighborhood. NextDoor also allows residents to choose whether they can receive information related to surrounding communities. All members must verify that they live within the neighborhood before joining Nextdoor.
The Woodstock Police Department joins more than 5,000 public agencies across the country that are using NextDoor. Those interested in joining their neighborhood’s NextDoor community forum can visit the website and enter their address.
