Small Plane Crash Kills Two, Closes Honolulu Airfield: Update

Officials said Dillingham Airfield is closed until further notice following the single-engine plane crash Saturday morning.

HONOLULU COUNTY, HI — Two people are now dead following a fatal aircraft crash at Dillingham Airfield in Honolulu County Saturday morning.

Authorities confirmed the second fatality to Hawaii News Now. The individual initially was hospitalized and in critical condition, according to reports. The first victim was a 60-year-old man, Hawaii News Now reports.

The Honolulu Fire Department responded to the downed single-engine Cessna and confirmed the fatality and other injuries to KHON-TV . The call came in at 9:20 a.m.

According to the Hawaii Department of Transportation, Dillingham Airfield is closed until further notice. Federal investigators have been notified.
