While we’re all home, the Hawaii State Public Library System thought it would be a perfect time to try some new virtual services. We are excited to announce that our library card holders will have unlimited access to the popular on-demand film streaming service Kanopy until April 30, 2020.

Offering what the New York Times calls “a garden of cinematic delights,” Kanopy showcases more than 30,000 of the world’s best films, including award-winning documentaries, rare and hard-to-find titles, film festival favorites, indie and classic films. More than 60% of Kanopy’s film offerings are not available through other streaming services.

Kanopy also has a Kids collection that offers commercial-free films and TV series that inspire, inform and help children develop empathy, mindfulness and self-esteem. The Kanopy Kids collection includes animated storybooks, family-friendly movies and popular titles like Arthur, Barbar, Sesame Street, Maya the Bee and more.

TO BEGIN USING KANOPY

  1. Click on Kanopy
  2. Login to Librarieshawaii with your library card number and pin
  3. Make an account with your e-mail address

(NOTE: When you login into Kanopy in the future you will use your email address and the password you created with it.)

SPECIAL TIPS

  • You can stream Kanopy on your computer or download the Kanopy app on your phone, tablet and Roku device.
  • For parents: Kanopy gives you the opportunity to create parental controls, so that your children watch the best films and series just for them.
