Boise Officer Struck By Intoxicated Driver

Boise Police arrested a driver after he drove through a fence and in an attempt to flee, struck an officer.

BOISE, ID — A driver was arrested and charged with multiple crimes after an arrest on Friday, May 28 after alert citizens notified police of his behavior.

Jonathan King, 43, a Boise resident, was driving in the area of S. Valley Ave. and W. Blackmoor St. just prior to 8:30 p.m. Witnesses saw King hit a barrier, weave in and out of a lane, and drive through a yard.

Upon arrival, Boise Police found King sitting in the driver's seat with the engine running. The officer reported King showed signs of intoxication including alcohol in the vehicle. When the officer attempted to turn the vehicle off, King placed the vehicle in reverse and started to drive away, hitting a tree in the process. The office was hit by the passenger door in the process.

King continued, driving through a fence and striking an additional tree. He was finally stopped and removed from the car.

King faces charges of Previously Found Guilty of a Prior Felony Within 15 Years, Officer-Flee or Attempt to Elude a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle, Assault or Battery Upon Certain Personnel, Arrests & Seizures-Resisting or Obstructing Officers, Driving Without Privileges. The first three charges are felonies with the remaining two listed as misdemeanors.
