Boise State (9-14 overall, 2-4 Mountain West) look to rebound after falling to San Diego State, 3-0 on Saturday, April 3.

The Broncos fell victim to the long ball Saturday afternoon as the Aztecs hit three solo home runs to beat the Broncos in the final game of the series. Boise State's offense was held in check on Saturday as the Blue and Orange was limited to four hits by San Diego State, who tallied eight.

Despite Saturday's loss, Boise State finished the weekend winning the overall series 2-1 over San Diego State and is now 9-14 overall and 2-4 in MW play.

"I think sometimes you have to credit your opponent and I thought Maggie Balint (SDSU's pitcher) made some nice adjustments against us today," said head coach Maggie Huffaker. "We have a lot of work to do to continue getting better offensively and we'll keep using these opportunities to learn. All in all, the series win is still a big deal and I hope it helps us build some momentum moving forward."

The key to the game was the Aztecs hitting solo home runs in three-consecutive innings starting in the second and ending in the fourth. The Broncos had no answers on Saturday for SDSU's three long balls as the Aztecs' defense held firm.

Jordyn Hutchins hit a single through the left side in the second inning and Karlee Johnson hit a single to left field in the fifth, but neither advanced beyond first. Ashlyn Adams recorded her team-leading 24th hit of the season, a double to left center in the sixth, but was left stranded there.

The final Boise State hit of the game came in the seventh when Hutchins tallied her second hit of the game when she singled up the middle, but unfortunately, like the other base runners she was unable to cross home plate.

San Diego State's Maggie Balint pitched a complete game striking out six and walking none in recording the 3-0 win over the Broncos.

Freshman Taylor Caudill started at pitcher for Boise State and was one of three Broncos to see action in the circle as they combined for eight strikeouts and three walks.
