Boise Students Donate 250 Pounds of Food to Local Nonprofit
Students at Parkcenter Montessori hosted a food drive to benefit The Idaho Foodbank
Students at Parkcenter Montessori in Boise recently hosted a school-wide food drive and donated 250 pounds of nonperishable food items to The Idaho Foodbank. The donation, which will provide more than 160 meals for local families in need, was part of a project students are doing to demonstrate kindness throughout the community. In addition to the food drive, students recently donated and packaged Halloween treats, and wrote messages of love, peace and kindness to be delivered to residents of Idaho Veterans Hospital and Brookdale Assisted Living Center. As they delivered the treats, students also displayed a parade of signs to encourage others to be kind.
The Idaho Foodbank is an independent, donor-supported, nonprofit organization founded in 1984, and is the largest distributor of free food assistance in Idaho. From warehouses in Boise, Lewiston and Pocatello, the Foodbank has distributed more than 135 million pounds of food to Idaho families through a network of more than 230 community-based partners.
